About Us

The Birth Of Hum

The Home and Urban Missions (HUM) was birthed in 2019 under vision 2023 of the Church of Pentecost during the chairmanship of Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye with Pastor Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo (Now Apostle) as the first Coordinator. Apostle Kwafo had two other ministers supporting the ministry at the early stages; Pastor Thomas Ayamboya for the Kumasi Sector, and Pastor Joseph Taah Appiah for the Accra Sector.

Our Focus Area

Home Missions

We reach out to individuals and groups within our space who are not indigenes of our nation and often considered foreigners or expatriates, such as Americans in Ghana, British in Togo, Asians in Nigeria, and Oceanians in Sierra Leone.

Urban Missions

It focuses on disillusioned persons in cities and towns, and those trapped in slums. They include the urban poor, marginalized and destitute like drug addicts, commercial sex workers, the homeless, street children, head potters (in the case of Ghana), etc.

Missions to Unreached People Groups (UPGs)

This ministry strives to send the gospel to people groups which are classified as unreached or unengaged. In Ghana, for instance, there are 19 unreached people groups.

What Is HUM?

HUM stands for Home and Urban Missions. It is a ministry of The Church of Pentecost that:

  1. undertakes intentional and strategic evangelism carried out with prayer.
  2. emphasises effective and consistent life-on-life discipleship.
  3. promotes indigenous church-planting among expatriates, Unreached People Groups (UPGs), migrants, northerners in the south (in the case of Ghana), and the urban poor and marginalised (drug addicts, commercial sex workers, street dwellers, etc.)

HUM, therefore, is dedicated to evangelising and maintaining nurture among people and groups that have historically been overlooked. It is a global responsibility, where leadership ensures that the presence of The Church of Pentecost on the planet is always associated with aggressive evangelism and impactful church planting—just as has always been the case throughout the church’s history.

The Goal

Our Mission

We exist to win and disciple the unsaved expatriates, migrants, marginalized, unreached and unengaged people groups with unadulterated word of God, giving them Hope in Christ and transforming them into agents of hope and Christ -like positive change for their communities.

The Outlook

Our Vission

To become an effective arm of the Church of Pentecost completely dedicated to reaching to expatriates, migrants, marginalized, unreached and unengaged people groups.

Our Target Groups

Our Departments

Fulani Ministry

The Fulani people, also known as Fulbe or Pullo (as they refer to themselves), are one of the largest nomadic ethnic groups in Africa, with a population exceeding 40 million spread across the continent. In Ghana, their numbers are estimated by some sources to be close to one million.

Ministry To The Other Unreached People Groups (UPGS)

Unreached People Groups (UPGs) are defined as ethnic groups within a given country where less than 5% of the population identify as Christian, and less than 2% are evangelical. These groups often remain neglected in global mission efforts, receiving little or no intentional outreach with the gospel.

Centre For The Study Of The Unreached People Groups, Africa

The Pentecost Centre for the Study of Unreached People Groups Africa (PCUPG) is a pioneering research and training institution dedicated to advancing the mission of Christ among Unreached People Groups (UPGs) across the African continent.

City Ministry

The City Ministry is a vital arm of Home and Urban Missions (HUM) that focuses on reaching the urban poor and marginalised—individuals whom political and social systems have excluded from enjoying the full benefits of society. This ministry also engages people involved in deviant or socially unacceptable behaviours, whether legal or illegal, but approaches these situations through a biblical and redemptive lens.

Pentecost Hope Centre

Pentecost Hope Centre is a specialised department under HUM that focuses on vulnerable children below the age of 18 who have left home and are exposed to life-threatening conditions in the streets, slums, and ghettos—often with little or no parental care or supervision. Pentecost Hope Centre exists to restore dignity, purpose, and hope to these children—offering them a chance at a better life anchored in the love of Christ.

Ministry To Internal Migrants

This ministry focuses on individuals and families who have migrated within national borders, often in large numbers, in search of safety, better economic opportunities, or improved living conditions. This ministry recognises that internal migrants are often overlooked in traditional mission strategies, and it seeks to give them spiritual belonging, community support, and opportunities for holistic transformation.
